The profiles of angiology and vascular surgery academic leagues and their effectiveness in specialty education
Conclusions The angiology and vascular surgery academic leagues in the state of S ão Paulo all function in a similar manner, but the range of theoretical, practical and scientific activities they offer are not uniform. For the sample investigated, the academic leagues appear to be effective at teaching angiology and vascular surgery during undergraduate courses.

Peripherally inserted central venous catheters: alternative or first choice vascular access?
Conclusions Ultrasound-guided and fluoroscopy-positioned PICC placement had a low incidence of complications, reduced infection rates, and proved safe and effective in cases of difficult vascular access. PICCs can be considered the devices of choice for central vascular access.

Women in vascular surgery: a brief analysis of the Brazilian profile
Conclusions Despite the limitations of the study population, this preliminary study confirms the idea that female vascular surgeons demonstrate continuous dedication to practicing their specialty and sets a precedent so that further studies can investigate the professional practice of female vascular surgeons in greater detail, stimulating discussion of gender inequalities in medical practice.

Conclusions In this study, hemostasis by manual compression exhibited equal efficacy to use of a VCD, but the duration of compression and delay before resumption of activity were shorter in the patients for whom the device was employed.

Arteriovenous anastomosis learning curve using low cost simulator
Conclusions It was found that the training model used was effective for increasing learning of this technique. It is believed that future studies with larger samples or a higher number of phases could demonstrate both reduced time and improved quality of the anastomoses performed with statisti cal significance.

Primary stenting for femoropopliteal peripheral arterial disease: analysis up to 24 months
Conclusions Results of primary patency were compatible with international studies, despite the more advanced stage of the vascular disease observed in our group. Occlusive disease and complex lesions were both associated with worse outcomes.

Conclusions Rates of correctly-prescribed VTE prophylaxis are still lower than they should be. Ongoing education, measures to encourage bedside risk stratification, and improvements to the electronic prescription system could increase appropriate VTE prophylaxis rates.

Translation, cultural adaptation, and validation of a lipedema symptoms questionnaire
Conclusions The translated and culturally adapted Brazilian Portuguese version of the lipedema symptoms assessment questionnaire (QuASiL) is a practical tool that is easy and quick to administer and can be used in our population. Glucose as a cause of and treatment for cutaneous necrosis
We report a case of formation of cutaneous necrosis after chemical sclerotherapy using hypertonic glucose (75%), which healed when treated with a topical preparation containing vaseline and 60% glucose, with satisfactory esthetic results.

Comparison of the ankle-brachial index with parameters of stiffness and peripheral arterial resistance assessed by photoplethysmography in elderly patients
Conclusions In conclusion, ABI and PPG exhibited associations with arterial aging, considering its correlation with age. However, ABI was only related to age, sex, and smoking. More studies are needed to evaluate the potential uses of PPG for screening for vascular diseases in ambulatory settings.
